The Media and Communications Manager serves as the chief liaison between the City of Cedar Park and the news media. The Media & Communications Office is responsible for the creation, dissemination and circulation of City news, promotion of Cedar Park in the media, management of government access cable channel CPTV-10, the City website, and the City's social networking outlets. Other responsibilities include photography for special events, advertisement design and placement, creation of publications, marketing, and branding.
In addition to the aforementioned areas, Media & Communications serves as a liaison between the community and the City when important issues and special situations arise. In this role, the Media & Communications Office helps communicate to the City the interests of citizens and other stakeholders as well as the City’s position to such groups, in an effort to reach fair decisions and middle ground for everyone involved. The Media and Communications Office continues its longstanding tradition of excellence, earning the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers' 2014 TAMI Award for Best Regular/Recurring Program (population under 100,000) for CPTV-10 News (visit our YouTube Channel to watch various episodes), the TAMIO Award of Honor for Marketing Plan/Campaign (population under 100,000) for the "Got it in Cedar Park" shop local campaign, and the TAMIO Award of Honor for Specialty/One-Time Program for "Corvalent and Cedar Park, Texas," a video highlighting the economic development partnership between Corvalent and the City of Cedar Park.
In 2013 the Media and Communications Office won TAMI Awards for Special Publication: Population less than 80,000 and Website: Population less than 90,000 for www.cedarparktexas.gov, and also the TAMIO Award of Honor for its production of the City's 40th Anniversary Video "Cedar Park: 40 Years and Beyond." The video received a 2013 Bronze Telly Award and a 3rd Place Award in the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TATOA) Programming Awards as well.
The Media & Communications Office is proud to have brought home these and numerous other awards for its work to the citizens of Cedar Park over the years and strives to continue its commitment to quality community programming and distribution of information.
