Don Tracy was elected to Place 6 on the Cedar Park City Council in June 2010. Before serving on Council, he was a member of the Cedar Park 4A Economic Development Board. Don currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem for the City. He also serves on several Council committees, including the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Board, the Science Center Task Force. In addition, Don represents the City of Cedar Park on the Executive Committee of the Capital Area Council of Governments.
For over 15 years, Don has worked in Central Texas as a human resource management and workforce education professional, where he has led collaborative, community-wide and state-wide skills development initiatives focused on training workers in high-growth, high-opportunity industry clusters. He currently works for Austin Community College, where he serves as Director of Business Operations and Marketing in the Continuing Education Division, and as an instructor in various Human Resource Management topics.
Don graduated from Texas A&M University with a BA in Political Science, from Georgetown University with an MA in Russian Area Studies, and holds national certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. He has resided in Cedar Park for over ten years. He and his wife Shannon are active members of New Hope First Baptist Church, where Don currently serves as a Sunday school teacher.
