The Cedar Park Police Department prefers that only cul-de-sacs and non-through streets be barricaded or blocked off for these types of events. If the street is a major through street then the liability and inconvenience for the citizens is too high.

The requesting citizen must create a letter/petition for the neighbors affected by the road closure. The letter/petition must have each name, street address and a signature from each resident affected by and agreeing to the road closure.

The maximum length of time that the Cedar Park Police Department usually allows for a road closure/blockage is 4 to 5 hours. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

The Cedar Park Police Department asks that the requestor take photos of the area which they wish to close/block off. This makes the presentation to the Chief of Police much easier when explaining the closure/blockage.

The letter/petition, photos and a memo stating the event needs to be submitted to the Community Services Division Sergeant. The Community Services Division Sergeant will then make the presentation and recommendations to the Chief of Police requesting the closure/blockage.

After approval or denial of the request, the letter/petition, photos and memo will be placed in permanent file in the Community Services Division for future reference.
